pH Scale and Indicators

pH ranges and common indicator color changes.

  • JSON3,547 B
  • YAML2,191 B · −38%
  • TOON1,498 B · −58%

The pH scale from strongly acidic to strongly basic, with the usual category for each value and the color of universal indicator. Rows for pH 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 14 fill in the scale between the original reference points.

Use it when

  • You need the category and approximate indicator color for a pH value.
  • You are explaining the scale to a learner.

Watch out for

  • Indicator colors are approximate and depend on the specific indicator or test paper used.
  • pH 7 is neutral only at 25 degrees Celsius; the neutral point shifts with temperature.
